Passage of Time, Longleaf Art Park

Walton County, Florida, USA

THE BRIEF

Longleaf Art Park is a new 15.5-acre cultural destination in Walton County, Florida. A purpose-built pavilion houses Passage of Time by world-renowned artist Richard Serra. The monumental sculpture stretches 217 feet through the space. We needed to create the right conditions for the work, with natural light playing a central role.

Strategy

Working alongside OLI Architecture, we developed custom structural glass facades and skylights using large-format insulated glass. Above the sculpture, a 4,700 sq ft skylight uses translucent glazing to create white, diffused light throughout the pavilion.

RESULT

Once complete, the pavilion will use diffused natural light to create a luminous setting for Serra’s monumental work.
