Prince Brighton, Princeton University Art Museum Princeton, NJ

Princeton, New Jersey, USA

THE BRIEF

Prince Brighton is a 45 ft x 90 ft mural commissioned for the new Princeton University Art Museum. Installed within a semi-outdoor courtyard, it is exposed to changing temperature and humidity conditions. Techne joined the artist’s team to help develop a strategy that balanced artistic intent with long-term performance.

Strategy

Working alongside Nick Cave and Aspect Structural Engineers, we developed the technical solution for the mural, turning it from concept to reality. Different materials expand and contract in different ways, so the system was carefully detailed and tested to accommodate movement without disrupting the overall composition. Our involvement continued through fabrication, site logistics, and installation.

RESULT

As it is one of the first things visitors encounter, Prince Brighton was designed to create a sense of welcome and connection. The artwork preserves the artist’s vision while performing as part of the building facade.
